Back from shopping at the center. I saw the former U.S. Embassy security guard again. He is now old, he limps, and he looks terribly incapacitated, as though his every moment pains him. This is the fifth time I saw him in Cubao. I once smiled at him and waited for him to recognize me, but he did not. He just gave me a haunted look. I wonder when he left the Embassy, and why. This time around, I did not go out of my way to greet him.
